Earlier this week, we took delivery of a new Boeing 737-900ER, one of two planned 737 deliveries this month.
“We welcomed 737-900ER #459 to the fleet on Tuesday," said Ron Baur, our Vice President of Fleet. "This delivery is an important part of our initiative to modernize the fleet, offering greater efficiency and reliability while improving our customers' experience.”
These next-generation 737s feature cabin enhancements, such as flight attendant call buttons that are isolated from other controls, speakers in every row to improve the clarity of cabin announcements, larger overhead bins, brighter reading lights and softer cabin lighting. Overall, these winglet-equipped 737s are more than 25% more fuel efficient per seat than the 737-500s we are retiring this year.
In total, we will take delivery of 19 737s in 2012 in addition to the five Boeing 787 Dreamliners we expect to receive before the end of the year. In an earlier story
on the Hub, we announced the July order of 100 Boeing 737 MAX 9s and 50 additional 737-900ERs for delivery between 2013 and 2022.
