During our 787 Dreamliner First Look event at Boeing’s Paine Field in early August, we held a TweetChat that generated a number of great questions from our customers. The topic that came up the most was destinations. People wanted to know what cities our new Boeing 787 Dreamliner would service. We’re excited to give you answers about the first international routes for our new aircraft.
Update (October 26, 2012)
Our first 787 is continuing with pre-certification proving runs and we expect it to enter commercial service on November 4 as scheduled. However, due to unexpected 787 delivery delays from Boeing, some flights originally scheduled to operate with our new 787 Dreamliner during November and December will now operate with a different aircraft type.
We're in the process of updating our systems to reflect the different aircraft types that will be flying in place of previously published 787s.
We'll begin the process of notifying customers on the initial affected flights that they will be traveling on a different aircraft type. We’re offering to refund or rebook customers who specifically intended to fly on one of the early Dreamliner flights.

We’ll kick off our 787 international routes at the beginning of the year, with daily service between Los Angeles and Tokyo starting on January 3, 2013, followed by nonstop service five days a week between Houston and Lagos, Nigeria, starting on January 7.
Next up is service between our Houston hub and Amsterdam, which starts in February. This route will be offered through March 29, 2013. From February 4 to March 29, our 787 will also fly between Houston and London Heathrow.
On March 30, we will operate flights between Los Angeles and Shanghai, and on March 31 we launch our Denver-to-Tokyo route, which we announced previously.
Our flights between Denver and Narita are available for sale on united.com, and you can book our newly announced flights beginning on August 25.
Closer to home, we’ll be announcing our 787 U.S. domestic routes, which will launch before our Dreamliner takes off to international destinations.
