On November 15, 2012, a group of our co-workers boarded the first employee flight of our Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Nominated by their colleagues for exemplifying our Working Together culture, these co-workers go above and beyond their regular responsibilities in serving our customers and assisting team members.
The day before the flight, Boeing treated the group to a tour of the 787 factory in Everett, Washington , and then a dinner in a hangar with one of our 787s on display.
A crisp, clear morning greeted our co-workers at Boeing Field. After a ceremonial signing service and a personal welcome from our President and CEO Jeff Smisek, the 787 was soon underway to Chicago.
Co-workers cheered as the aircraft gracefully lifted to the sky and glided to its cruising altitude.
Several of our officers provided the inflight service, and everyone took advantage of exploring the interior innovations aircraft, from the dimmable windows to the inflight entertainment system.
As the Dreamliner concluded the four-hour flight to Chicago, employees expressed their excitement about the experience. “I’m going to be black and blue from pinching myself,” one of our co-workers said.
