Before you can get started on any of these tasks, you have to retrieve your reservation. You can access the page containing your reservation details from the center panel of the home page or from the Reservations
tab in the main navigation. Either way, you’ll land on the View Reservation by Confirmation Number
page. Read the details on how to change a ticket on united.com
If you don’t have a MileagePlus® account or you’re not signed in, you can go to the light-blue panel in the middle of the home page and, in the area labeled Change or View Reservations, enter your flight confirmation number and last name in the text boxes. Select Go.
The View Reservation by Confirmation Number page opens.
Note: If you have a MileagePlus account and are signed in to the website, you’ll find information in this article about any extra features that are available to you.
The other way to access your reservation is to go to the main navigation bar — the dark-blue horizontal bar with tabs labeled in white at the top of all pages on the United website. Hover your mouse over the Reservations tab to activate a drop-down menu with different options that you can select. Select Change/View Existing Reservations.
The Manage Reservations page opens.
At the bottom of the page, enter your flight confirmation number and last name in the text boxes and then select Find. This takes you to the View Reservation by Confirmation Number page.
Remember that long list of things you can do with your existing reservation? Well, you can accomplish many of those tasks from the View Reservation page. Take a look at the top of the page; next to Reservation Tools, you’ll see a number of links. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find buttons for changing flights, viewing or changing your seat and redeeming an upgrade.
Make a special needs request
Do you need assistance boarding the plane? Do you require a service animal? A bassinet for your infant during an international flight? You can make special service requests by accessing your reservation on united.com.
On the View Reservation by Confirmation Number page, scroll down to the Traveler(s) section of the page and select the Edit traveler information link.
The Edit Traveler page opens.
Scroll down to the Flight Preferences/Request
section, where you can make choices from one or more of the Special Need
drop-down menus. You can request assistance from an attendant, a service animal, different wheelchair options, just to name a few.
View or change your seat assignment
Do you want to see where you’re sitting on the aircraft that's in service for your flight or you’re looking to change your seat? You’ve got a few options for pulling up the seat map for your flight:
- By selecting the View/Change Seats button at the bottom of the View Reservation by Confirmation Number page.
- From the Review Travel Details page, where you'll see the Traveler Information section at the bottom of the Current Itinerary box.
Note: If you're a MileagePlus member and are signed in, you can get to the Seat Map page from the My Account page by selecting the View/Change Seats link in the blue Reservations box, under Current Reservations.
Once you’ve selected the button to view or change your seat, the Seat Map page opens.
The page shows the seating layout for the aircraft assigned to your flight, organized by cabin and color to indicate exit rows and Economy Plus® seats.
Tip: You can always go back to the seat map to view or modify your seat selection after you purchase your ticket.
Add a pet to your reservation
Sometimes you just have to take Fluffy with you, whether it's on a vacation or for a major move to a new home. If you have an existing reservation on United and you want to add an in-cabin pet, make your way to the View Reservation by Confirmation Number page, either by going to the light-blue panel in the middle of the home page.
You can also retrieve that page by hovering your mouse over the Reservations tab in the main navigation bar, selecting Change/View Existing Reservation and filling in your flight confirmation number and last name at the bottom of the Manage Reservations page.
Okay, you're on the View Reservation by Confirmation Number page. Now, scroll down the page to the Traveler(s) section. Select the Add Pets link.
The Add Pet to Reservation page opens.
Use the drop-down menu to indicate the number of in-cabin pets traveling with you, and then select Continue
Note: If pets aren't allowed in one or more of the flight segments in your itinerary, or your itinerary includes other airlines and you want to add an in-cabin pet to your reservation, contact United Reservations at 1-800-UNITED-1 (1-800-864-8331).contact United Reservations.

Review your travel details
After you’ve retrieved your reservation, you can review your itinerary on the Review Trip Itinerary page and make updates to your travel plans including:
- Changing flights
- Requesting a seat change or upgrade
- Indicating if you are planning to check bags
In the Traveler Information section at the bottom of the page, you can select from one of three buttons:
- View/Change Seats
- Edit traveler information
- Add Pet(s)
MileagePlus members: If you prefer to manage all of your reservations from one page, scroll down the My Account page to the blue Reservations box. To the right, select the View All Reservations link to access the Manage Reservations page.
Print a receipt
To print your ticket receipt for a current reservation, first retrieve your reservation. Then on the View Reservation by Confirmation Number page, scroll down the page to the Price section, where you'll see links to View Receipt and Add E-mail Address and Request Receipt.
Select the View Receipt link to go directly to a page showing your reservation details and payment; you can then print that page directly from your web browser.
Select the Add E-mail Address and Request Receipt link to access the Add E-mail Address and Request Receipt page.
Enter an email address where you'd like your receipt to be mailed, and then select Submit. Check your email inbox for a message containing your reservation information. That email serves as your receipt, which you can print out at any time.
If you’re requesting a receipt more than seven days after your trip, go to the Manage Reservations page and select the please request a past receipt link from the bulleted list of features.
The Receipt Request page opens.
Fill in the appropriate details and then select Continue at the bottom of the page. You have the option to select More Travelers.
Note: Here are a few extra details about receipts:
- There is a charge of $20 per receipt request per person.
- Only one passenger will be listed per receipt.
- Receipt requests will be processed within 10 to 14 days.
- Your delivery options for receipts are web, e-mail, fax and postal mail.
- All receipts will be delivered via the same delivery option.
Export your itinerary to your Outlook calendar
With tickets booked on united.com, there's no need to manually enter your travel dates in your Outlook calendar. We've got that covered. All you need to do is select a link on a page. Here's how.
On the View Reservation page, next to Reservation Tools at the top of the page, select the Export to Outlook link.
A new Outlook calendar appointment is automatically downloaded to your computer. The appointment window contains your flight confirmation number and flight details in the body of the appointment message box. You can fill in the subject heading and make changes to the calendar date and time, as necessary.
Note: The calendar will show the entire travel period, not only the departure and arrival days.
Email your travel summary
Let’s say you want to send a colleague, friend, family member or even yourself an email message containing your flight details. It’s easy to set this up.
Next to Reservation Tools at the top of the View Current Reservation page, select the E-mail Summary link.
The E-mail Summary page opens.
Enter one or more email addresses in the text box, add a message in the Message box (optional) and then press Send. The email recipients will receive a message containing your flight information.
MileagePlus members: You can rename your reservation on the View Current Reservation page, by selecting the Rename Reservation link at the top of the page,. Reservations are automatically named with the confirmation number.
We've given you the tools to manage your reservation. Now you can change your seat on the plane, make a special request, print out a receipt and more. Have fun!
