With United and Continental merging to form a single company, it’s necessary to make a transition from two separate websites that use different reservation systems to one website with a single reservation system.
continental.com look and functionality but with the United name
Late in the first quarter of 2012, we will move to continental.com as the unified United website. At that time, you'll see the same look, feel and navigation that you see today on continental.com, but it will have the Web address www.united.com. You can start getting familiar with how things are organized on the Continental website.
We put considerable thought into selecting the right system going forward and consider continental.com and its reservation system to be the better option for the new United. We recognize that this may result in changes in the way you manage your travel. However, we believe that this selection will help enable us to meet our main goal, which is to enable you to have the best possible travel experience.
A phased approach
Initially, we’re focusing our efforts on the huge task of combining the two airline systems into one unified site. At first, united.com will resemble what you see currently when you visit continental.com. Later, we’ll be expanding our offerings and introducing new features and functionality to the website to further streamline your travel experience.
Change is in the air
For now, both united.com and continental.com work for you. We are still operating separate reservations systems and websites for the two airlines, and will do so until late in the first quarter of 2012. So continue to manage your travel as you always have — on continental.com, united.com or both. However, we invite you to visit continental.com today and take a look at the way that website is organized and how you navigate the different areas.
When we do move to a unified website, there may be some changes to the way you plan, book and manage your travel. We understand this and are committed to guiding you through these changes. In fact, it’s our goal to prepare you with all the tools you need — news and articles, answers to frequently asked questions, step-by-step demos, videos and polls — to manage your travel by the time we transition to one system.
