We’ve just added two new features to our mobile app for United travelers. If you're traveling on the same reservation as others, now you can access multiple boarding passes in one place, and you have the option to share details of your travel status with members of your social network.
Multi-party mobile boarding passes
For United customers traveling together on the same reservation, checking in and accessing your boarding passes just got easier. We’ve introduced a new feature that puts multiple boarding passes all together, so when you use the mobile app, you can view them in one place. Our mobile website (mobile.united.com) also offers the option to view all mobile boarding passes for passengers who successfully complete the check-in process. You can select to have links to the mobile boarding passes emailed to you.
If you’re traveling in or out of airports that accept mobile boarding passes
, you can use boarding passes that are saved to your mobile device for you and your traveling companions. To set this up, just check in using the United mobile app – or, if you checked in using another method – make sure your reservation is saved to the home screen of your app, and we will automatically display the mobile boarding passes for all eligible travelers.
Note: For our mobile app and mobile website, we limit the number of multi-party mobile boarding passes to eight.
As long as the boarding passes have been saved to the home screen of the app, you can access them on the go. You don’t need to be connected to the Internet. (Connectivity is required for updates to our mobile app.)
We’ve also added new swiping functionality. Now you can easily move between boarding passes for you and your travel companions simply by swiping your finger across the boarding pass screen.
If you don’t have the mobile app, you can still enjoy the benefit of having multi-party boarding passes. When checking in through united.com or United mobile web, we send an email to the eligible travelers with the links to the boarding pass. And you can send others in your party the boarding pass link.
As a bonus, we redesigned the mobile boarding pass screen to accommodate a Flight Status button. This saves you steps because now you can view the status of your flight without having to go to the home screen.
Share your travel status
Create a buzz about where you’re going. After booking or checking in from our app, you’ll be prompted with the option to share your status to Facebook, Twitter or both. You can log in and out of both right from our mobile app.
When you check in and use the share feature, your status will be: I just checked in for my flight from [city airport code] to [city airport code] using the United Airlines mobile app” – again with the date and time stamp included.
Note: Your device must have multitasking capabilities. Some older iPhone and iPod Touch models may not include this functionality. In these cases, we are unable to offer the option to share or the ability to log in and out. However, you’ll be able to continue to read our tweets as before.
The two newest features in our mobile app can streamline your travel experience while keeping you connected to your social network.
Be sure to update the app on your smartphone or download it
if you don’t yet have it on your mobile device. Do you have a barcode reader on your device? Access the united.com page by scanning this barcode.
Of course, you can always download our app directly from the App Store (for iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (for Android devices).
