Have you ever discovered a fantastic airfare and wanted to jump on purchasing a ticket — but then missed out on the great deal while you took time to check with colleagues or family members to see if the travel dates would work?
Take advantage of our FareLock℠
service and save yourself the worry that the price of your itinerary may go up or that flight you want will sell out while you finalize your plans.
When you purchase FareLock, both your itinerary and the ticket fare remain on hold for the period of time that you specify – either 72 hours or 7 days. This gives you time to solidify your travel plans – so you can be extra certain before you purchase a ticket.
Let’s go over the details of the FareLock service. The details
While you’re looking at flights on united.com, check for the FareLock logo next to the different fares. Once you’ve found a flight you like that has the FareLock option, you can purchase the FareLock in the Purchase Options Review section of the Trip Itinerary page. Note that FareLock is non-refundable.
FareLock guarantees the itinerary and the fare that you've been quoted for either 72 hours or 7 days — your choice. Afraid you’ll forget to purchase your ticket while the FareLock hold is still active? Don’t worry. We’ll send you an e-mail reminder 24 hours before your hold expires. Note:
FareLock is also available for award tickets. Purchasing your ticket during your FareLock hold
When you purchased FareLock, you locked in your itinerary and fare. If you’re good to go with the flight or flights you’ve chosen and are ready to book your ticket, head on over to the Manage Reservations page while the hold is still active.
If you’re a MileagePlus® member, you can sign in to your account and get to your held reservation from your My Account page.
Another approach is to choose the auto-purchase option, which will automatically complete your purchase at the end of the FareLock hold period.
If for whatever reason you decide not to book the held flight, you can cancel your saved itinerary. Within the hold time, go to the Manage Reservations
Remember, all FareLock fees are nonrefundable. View the Terms and Conditions
on the FareLock page on united.com.
Just knowing that you have time to confirm details before you book a ticket can help streamline the process of planning a trip. Look for the FareLock logo next to select flights on united.com.
