Spring break may be just around the corner but there’s still time to enhance your travel toolbox. By keeping in mind these helpful travel tips and tidbits about our products and services, you can customize your trip and make it even more special.
Get a great deal
Chances are good that, by now, you already have your ticket in hand. If that’s not the case, you may benefit from some great last-minute fares on our United Specials page, which you’ll find under the Deals and Offers tab at the top of united.com. At the beginning of the week, we promote special rates for getaways during the next weekend. These featured specials change weekly and are available for purchase by 11:59 PM Central Time each Friday.
Tip: If you're a MileagePlus® member, sign up for our United News & Deals subscription service to receive weekly emails announcing fare sales and special offers. Just go to the Email Subscriptions page on united.com.
Pack light – it’s spring vacation, after all – and be savvy about what you can carry on and what you should check. During spring break, planes can be packed full. You’ll definitely want to avoid having to check bags that you planned to carry on the plane. If you’re heading to a warm vacation spot with just carry on in hand, wait until you get to your destination to buy sunscreen; most bottles of sun protection exceed the 3-ounce limit for liquids.
Tip: Consider organizing your electronics, including iPad, Kindle or other table device, in a single layer in your carry-on bag. These devices can remain in your carry on, and you can save time in the security line if TSA agents can identify the items with greater ease as they go through the X-ray machine.
Spring break is a great opportunity for catching up on sleep, reading a great book or getting out and about. Why not start and finish your trip with some fun extras? We offer an à la carte menu of United products and services that you can choose from. Customize your travel with extras including airport lounge access, baggage delivery and quicker access to the gate to help make your trip more relaxing and rewarding.
Before we get to the goodies, here’s a piece of information that’s crucial to you getting off the ground: Be sure you carry a government-issued photo ID with you such as a driver’s license or passport. Also, a new regulation from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires the name on the ID that you’re using for travel to exactly match the name on your reservation. Read the details on the TSA’s Secure Flight program.
Join the club
If you have time between flights, how about springing for a one-day pass at one of our United Club locations?
