Another step in the overall redesign of our digital channels takes shape with the launch of a redesigned United mobile app for Android™ devices. Millions of customers interact with our digital channels every week, and we’re dedicated to making these channels as user friendly as possible.
Last November, we introduced an all-new design for Apple® iOS devices, and our design for Android enhances popular tasks like booking, checking in or watching a flight’s status and monitoring your MileagePlus® account. The app is optimized for KitKat®, the newest Android platform, but is also compatible with previous versions.
The features our customers have grown to love in our current Android app are all still there in the redesign, with several new functions that were first introduced with the iOS version:
Travel cards are shortcuts to your travel information. They are presented on the home screen and you can swipe through the cards that are available to you, such as your mobile boarding pass, and even your MileagePlus and United Club cards.
The travel wallet is another shortcut, holding all your relevant information in one place, including upcoming reservations, mobile boarding passes, flight status notifications and more. Your travel wallet is your most comprehensive summary of upcoming trips, and with a simple swipe you can save trip details to a travel card on the home screen.
There are also extras such as Sudoku, a checked bag fees calculator, a currency converter and airport maps.
Learning from our popular iOS version of the app and building upon it, the team added a few elements that are unique to Android:
Quick access widget on the home screen
Re-orienting screen that switches views when rotated so you can use the features in either direction
Stacking data for more information at a glance when tracking multiple travelers or viewing multiple flight statuses
We will introduce some of these new elements to the iOS version later this year as we continue to update and improve our app across iOS, Android and Windows devices.
Digital United ClubSM card
United Club members can use their digital membership card through the United app on their iPhone® and Android devices to access United Club. The digital card is only valid at United Club locations. At partner lounges, including participating Star Alliance™-affiliated lounges, United Club members must present a valid physical membership card and any other required documentation.
