As of March 3, 2012, all MileagePlus® accounts were assigned a Personal Identification Number (PIN), designed to protect your account account against unauthorized use.

Your PIN is not required to sign in to your MileagePlus account or for any online transactions. It is required only when you call United or the MileagePlus Service Center to use miles or update your account.

In this article, we seek to answer two key questions we've been receiving about MileagePlus account access:

      • What information do I use to log in?
      • What's a PIN and how do I use it? What if I don't have a PIN?

      Signing in to your account
First, let's take a close look at the MileagePlus sign-in area of the united.com home page.

In the upper-right section of the home page, you'll see the yellow MileagePlus Sign In panel with two text boxes: MileagePlus number and PIN/Password.

Now let's get into the details of signing in using account numbers, email addresses, passwords and PINs. Right after this, we'll cover resetting your PIN (through the Forgot PIN page or the Change PIN page, which you access through the Account Settings page).

This chart shows the different options you have for signing in with either your MileagePlus or OnePass® account.

Here's a walkthrough of all the sign-in options shown in the chart.

If you’re a MileagePlus member and were assigned a new account number, here's how you sign in:
      • In the MileagePlus number box, type either your old 11-digit account number, your old MileagePlus email address or your new 8-character number.
      • In the PIN box, type either your old MileagePlus password or your new PIN.

If you were a OnePass member, here's how you sign in:
      • In the MileagePlus number box, type either your old OnePass username or your old OnePass account number.
      • In the PIN box, type either your old OnePass password or your old OnePass PIN.

Now that we've covered signing in, let's move on to resetting your PIN.

      Resetting your PIN
Here are instructions for resetting your PIN, based on all possible scenarios.
