Global Traveler names MileagePlus best frequent-flyer program

By The Hub team, December 01, 2017

For the 14th consecutive year, frequent business and luxury travelers voted United's MileagePlus® loyalty program the best overall frequent-flyer program in the world.

Customers were surveyed by Global Traveler, a monthly publication written exclusively for frequent business and luxury travelers. We're proud to have been recognized with this distinction every year since the survey launched in 2004.

In the same survey, customers also named MileagePlus best frequent-flyer bonus program for the fifth consecutive year. Our MileagePlus Club Card from Chase was named best credit card and best credit card rewards program, both for the sixth consecutive year, and our MileagePlus Explorer Card from Chase won for best frequent-flyer affinity credit card redemption for the fifth consecutive year.

"What is especially exciting about these honors is that they are awarded by travelers, and therefore a testament to our commitment to providing MileagePlus members and credit card holders with the industry-leading experience," said Loyalty VP Luc Bondar. "It is our goal to provide a loyalty program that recognizes and rewards all of our members while offering a breadth of valuable earning and redemption opportunities."

Additionally this week, the United TravelBank Card from Chase was selected as the 2017 Mega Award winner for Excellence in Co-Brands at Mega Event 2017, a travel industry conference. Launched earlier this year, the United TravelBank Card allows customers to earn United TravelBank cash on every purchase to redeem toward United flights.

United agrees to purchase 1.5 billion gallons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) over 20 years - which is one and a half times the size of the rest of the world's airlines' publicly announced SAF commitments combined

CHICAGO and DES PLAINES, Ill., Sept. 9, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- United and Honeywell today announced a joint multimillion-dollar investment in Alder Fuels – a cleantech company that is pioneering first-of-its-kind technologies for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at scale by converting abundant biomass, such as forest and crop waste, into sustainable low-carbon, drop-in replacement crude oil that can be used to produce aviation fuel. When used together across the fuel lifecycle, the Alder technologies, coupled with Honeywell's Ecofining™ process, could have the ability to produce a carbon-negative fuel at spec with today's jet fuel. The goal of the technologies is to produce fuel that is a 100% drop-in replacement for petroleum jet fuel.
