HOUSTON, June 26, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning this Friday, customers traveling in United Polaris® business class, the airline's international premium cabin travel experience, will be able to relax before their travels and enjoy locally-inspired food and beverage offerings with the opening of the new United Polaris lounge at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

United's latest Polaris lounge exhibits distinct flair from Houston, the culinary and cultural capital of the South. Unique artwork is featured throughout the lounge by two Houstonian artists – Shane Tolbert and Terrell James. Food highlights include a Texas breakfast skillet, Cajun andouille sausage and chicken étouffée, Argentinean roasted chimichurri chicken, tres leches bites and the United Polaris Burger, which will be on the menu at all United Polaris lounges. The cocktail menu includes the Caliente on the Rocks, which combines Casamigos® Tequila, orange juice and a homemade sour mix, garnished with a jalapeño for an extra kick and caipirinhas, the traditional Brazilian cocktail made from muddled lime, sugar and cachaça. The lounge also serves house-made star anise-infused vodka and oolong tea-steeped bourbon.

The opening of the United Polaris lounge in Houston closely follows the debut of United Polaris lounges at San Francisco International Airport in April and at Newark Liberty International Airport earlier this month. The United Polaris lounge at Los Angeles International Airport is expected to open later this year.

On average, United plans to add one aircraft with the new United Polaris business class seat every 10 days from now through 2020. Beginning July 1, every seat in the United Polaris cabin will be provisioned with a cooling gel pillow. The gel pillow, previously available by request, has proven to be one of the most popular items of United Polaris bedding.

United's Polaris Lounge in Houston is conveniently located in Terminal E, next to Gate E12. United Reports November 2018 Operational Performance

CHICAGO, Dec. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines (UAL) today reported November 2018 operational results.

UAL's November 2018 consolidated traffic (revenue passenger miles) increased 7.1 percent and consolidated capacity (available seat miles) increased 5.5 percent versus November 2017. UAL's November 2018 consolidated load factor increased 1.2 points compared to November 2017.

November Highlights

  • Announced UAL has reached an agreement with Compañía Panameña de Aviación S.A. (Copa), Aerovías del Continente Americano S.A. (Avianca) and many of Avianca's affiliates, for a joint business agreement, pending government approval.
  • Announced that the newest premium seating, United® Premium Plus, would be on sale beginning December 3, for travel on select international flights starting March 30, 2019.
  • Took delivery of UAL's first Boeing 787-10, becoming the first North American airline to take delivery of the 787-10.
  • Announced new routes including year-round service between Denver and Frankfurt, Germany and nonstop service between Paine Field/Snohomish County Airport and Denver and San Francisco, all pending government approval, and submitted a formal application to the U.S. Department of Transportation for authority to increase service between New York/Newark Liberty and Shanghai Pudong.

United Airlines Expands Partnership With Copa and Avianca

CHICAGO, Nov. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today announced it has reached an agreement with Compañía Panameña de Aviación S.A. (Copa), Aerovías del Continente Americano S.A. (Avianca) and many of Avianca's affiliates, for a joint business agreement (JBA) that, pending government approval, is expected to provide substantial benefits for customers, communities and the marketplace for air travel between the United States and 19 countries in Central and South America.

By integrating their complementary route networks into a collaborative revenue-sharing JBA, United, Avianca and Copa plan to offer customers many benefits, including:

  • Integrated, seamless service in more than 12,000 city pairs
  • New nonstop routes
  • Additional flights on existing routes
  • Reduced travel times

Drive economic benefits for consumers and the communities we serve

The carriers expect the JBA to drive significant traffic growth at major gateway cities coast to coast, which is expected to help bring new investment and create more economic development opportunities. Further, the JBA is expected to provide customers with expanded codeshare flight options, competitive fares, a more streamlined travel experience and better customer service, resulting in significant projected consumer benefits.

Better serve our customers

Additionally, allowing the three carriers to serve customers as if they were a single airline is expected to enable the companies to better align their frequent flyer programs, coordinate flight schedules and improve airport facilities.

JBAs drive competition that benefits customers

Although JBAs have been proven around the world to benefit consumers and enhance competition, currently 99 percent of the U.S. carrier passenger traffic that makes connections in Central and South America does so without a JBA. Competition in the U.S.-Latin American market has grown and includes a diverse set of carriers offering service across multiple price points. Yet the market lacks a comprehensive revenue-sharing, metal-neutral network of carriers and the associated heightened competitive forces that drive value and better consumer experiences. The JBA represents an innovative, best-in-class new product offering that will make competition in this robust market even stronger.

United Airlines Announces Sale Date for United® Premium Plus, Airline's Premium Economy Offering

CHICAGO, Nov. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, United Airlines announced that its newest premium seating, United® Premium Plus will be on sale beginning December 3, for travel on select international flights starting March 30, 2019. The new premium economy experience will be available on 21 routes by the end of May 2019.

The new premium economy seats debuted on select Boeing 777-200ER and 777-300ER aircraft earlier this summer, and United took delivery of its first 787-10 aircraft earlier this month with United Polaris business class and United® Premium Plus seats installed. United Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service Between Denver and Frankfurt, Germany

DENVER, Nov. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines (UAL), the U.S. carrier with the most service to Germany, today announced it will begin its 15th daily nonstop flight between the United States and Germany from its hub at Denver International Airport.
