Sharon Grant honored at Illinois Women's Conference

By The Hub team, March 10, 2017

Yesterday, Customer Contact Centers VP Sharon Grant was honored as one of the Top 15 Business Women in Illinois at the eighth annual Illinois Women's Conference, an event focusing on professional development, community, networking, entrepreneurship and women's health.

"I am humbled to represent United in this special way," said Sharon. "I value the recognition as a reflection of United's strong commitment to developing women leaders and being active in communities we serve."

The award recognizes high-ranking female executives in various industries in Illinois that exhibit the tenacity it takes to excel in their field of expertise. Other award recipients included Hickory Farms CEO Diane Pearse and Grubhub Senior Vice President Kelley Berlin. This year, the annual conference coincides with Women's History Month, during which we recognize and honor the contributions women have made throughout history and to society.

"I am so proud that we are celebrating the impact and achievements of women in our society during Women's History Month," said Sharon. "I'm overjoyed to be recognized and even more so to celebrate all the trailblazers who paved the way for me to have the opportunity to do what I love every day."

On November 27, United Airlines became the first commercial airline to safely deliver the first batch of Pfizer and BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine into the U.S. thanks to a coordinated effort between United's cargo, safety, technical operations, flight operations, regulatory and legal teams.

Now as the entire shipping and logistics industry bands together to widely distribute vaccines, United is leveraging all of its flights, including cargo-only and those carrying passengers, to transport millions of vaccines to destinations throughout our network, including Honolulu, Guam and Saipan – the first of any carrier to do so.

Why we fly

By The Hub team, November 27, 2020

In October 2019, we launched a first-of-its-kind airline miles donation platform, Miles on a Mission. In the inaugural year, MileagePlus members donated over 70 million miles, with United matching over 20 million miles, to 51 organizations. These miles have allowed for these organizations to do important, life-changing, life-saving work in the communities we serve around the globe.
