Temperatures were high this summer and so were United's operational performance metrics.

Despite more flying and a higher percentage of seats being filled with customers than in recent summers — while dealing with worse-than-usual weather for this time of year — United set company summer records (June-August) in both on-time arrivals and departures.

“Around the system there is more pride and more dedication in each day's tasks, along with more enthusiasm and more optimism for our future," said Tracy Lee, United's vice president of network operations said. “This new spirit is reflected in our performance, and is the number one factor driving our improvement."
